Obituary of Antonio D. Alamo

Antonio D. Alamo, Sr. passed away quietly at the age of 97 in Roseville, California, on April 8, 2024.

Tony, Tatay Tonying, or Daddy Tony as his friends and family fondly call him, was born on June 13, 1926, in Bayanan, Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines to Crispolo Alamo and Amada Alamo (nee, Dayday). He spent his early years in the island of Luzon, Philippines. He then traveled to Dumaguete City located in the province of Negros Oriental where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 1965 at Silliman University. It was in Dumaguete City where he met his bride, Cecilia Bartolo. He was a devout Catholic and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. 

Tony worked in Negros Oriental’s Department of Public Works for years while Cecilia worked as a public health nurse. Due to their occupations, they resided in several different municipalities in Negros Oriental with their three children before eventually establishing their home in Dumaguete City. 

Tony immigrated to the United States to join Cecilia who emigrated from the Philippines at an earlier time. Tony worked as a teacher’s assistant at Stockton Unified School District before he joined Diamond of California where he was in charge of quality control. His greatest joy was taking care of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Antonio Alamo, Jr. (Violy), and his daughter, Cecille (Sal) and five grandchildren, CJ (Maggie), Wesley (Marie), Andrea (Phil), Camille (Chris), and Christian and wonderful great grandchildren, Samantha, Sofia, Drei, Andre, and Josephine; siblings, Rufina Celestino, and Elena Alamo, and nieces and nephews as well as their offsprings. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Crispolo and Amada Alamo, his wife Cecilia Alamo, his son, Waldemar Alamo, his sisters Genoveva Miranda (Faustino) and Luz Quilao (Mario), brother-in-law, Leonito Celestino, and his best friend and cousin, Apolonia Gener (Juanito).

Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
